Body Bags (1993)

An anthology of three horror shorts; two shot by John Carpenter and one by Tobe Hooper. Hooper's was so badly cast I couldn't get to the end of it; Mark Hamill (great as The Joker, and Majima Gorō, but sucks at everything else), Twiggy (utterly useless in everything ever) and Sheena Easton (don't even start me on her) fail at everything asked of them. The only notable actor is David Warner.
Introduced by Carpenter, with cameos from some genre greats including Wes Craven, Sam Raimi and Roger Corman it’ll pass an hour and a half of your life without making you want to kill all involved; or if you're like me, about 70 minutes of your life before the square button comes into play.

Ah, I had this one on my list, too. I love me some anthology horror. Your review doesn't sound too compelling, but I think I'll check it out anyway.

I've haven't seen it either.

I might check it out too.

Watched Miike's installment in the Masters Of Horror the other night. Got me wanting more anthologies.

I've been loving my Carpenter binge but this just didn't deliver. I've seen it before and thought it was poor but figured I'd watch with new eyes; I'm still unconvinced. The second of the three was best, it had some humour which I think is essential in horror.
Miike's Masters Of Horror is nasty in places. 0_o

Makes me wonder...are you going to tackle Dark Star? ;)

2.5 beachball aliens from me. :D

I don't own it any more. :( I used to have it on VHS but I got rid of all those when dvd proved to be worth it. 2 and a half awkward bombs sounds fair. :)

Froggy's got it. ;)

Good ol' Froggy.

He treats us so well....with his special brand of crap.

I didn't know. :) Thanks.
There is an anthology series there called George A. Romero Presents Deadtime Stories, it might fit your anthology criteria.

Never again.

I don't even remember you posting that one.

I read everyone's posts, more than once, and I don't remember that one either. :\ It was back in August? I can scarcely remember last week.

cuckoo said...

O_O

More than once?

Shit...I should do a better job.

XD I got really sloppy with mine in the last month or so.

I read them when I sign in, then post mine. Later that day when it's quiet at the barn I come back and go over them again, to see if I want to hunt them down.

"I can scarcely remember last week."

I'm surprised none of us have nutted the same movie twice yet.

"Shit...I should do a better job.

I got really sloppy with mine in the last month or so."

My goal is to be as short and sweet as possible.

Still, the reviews have come a long way from the stanza and meter form poetry of the first month.

I've found a style that suits me. One sentence to outline the plot (from the "if you can't explain it in one sentence then you didn't understand it well enough" school of thought), then the rest of the review to add my subjective bullshit. If it's something I really love I tend to go overboard. :p

budarc said...

Some movies I struggle to have something original to say. Other movies I can't shut up. Sometimes I'll skip the nut if it turns out to be too much of a hassle.

cuckoo said...

I just do whatever the hell I feel like and hope it's short enough.

I've hacked paragraphs off of some of them.

We all have different sized nuts. :erm:

Now I'm reading some of the early ones.

Look at this one. Two sentences! :loldata:

Short and to the point.

I could say that about most of his films.

I should.

See who catches on. :loldata:
